Case Study - When accessibility is a question- NGO provided solution:

 

Village Kintalvadra a small villages under Pedalada Gram Panchayat, Bandhugan Block, Koraput Dist. PRASTUTEE a NGO working with the community in the same village for mother and child care and health in V4 sub centre scheme with support of NRHM through partner organization My Heart. During the home visit of Field coordinator Miss Sumitra Melka and Community Facilitator Mr. Somnath Kandagiri met with one lactating mother Tadinga Tumuli of the village kintalvadra. She delivered a girl child five months ago. According to her, she was prepared to go to medical facility for delivery but due to the labor pain she only landed –up in given birth to a baby girl at home. She is well aware of the immunization and taking all anti natal care e.g. two time health check up ,100 IFA tablet intake, giving two TT and timely taking food and rest which helped her to avoid any complications . She said that she had learnt it from the SHG leaders training organised by PRASTUTEE at Pedalada. All the antenatal care was provided from Almunda APHC, which is situated at a distance of 8 Km from her village .She requested for an appointment of an ANM in Pedalada Sub centre which was lying vacant since last one year. She praised the effort of PRASTUTEE Team & the Health worker (M), because in her view, information, services and follow-ups have been provided to her through the NGO and Health Worker.
